Krishna–the Yogi OR Krishna–the King OR Krishna–the Charmer

One touched my soul, the other incarcerated my mind, but the Charmer stole my heart and my whole being!
Krishna in his every avatar was indeed an epitome of excellence but was it his ‘Om tat sat’ (that which is forever true) and life goals in Gita or his astute mindset for business and politics that brings him closer to lesser mortals like us. I guess neither of the two!!
To my every being, it was his irresistible charm, his unapologetic flirting, his mischievous smile, his uncanny activities which makes Mira/ Radha long for him as ‘chit chor’, aam aadmi worship their ‘kanha ji’ and look upto their ‘Girdhari’ 💙💙
Excellence and perfection are two strong drivers for self-fulfillment – they do inspire and lead to aspire either in the spiritual world or in the materialistic world……but does it bring sparkle in life where you are smiling ear to ear and your eyes are shining with love? Forbes has recently quoted “When you get to the top of your game, take yourself to a new level of performance and get uncomfortable again”!!!
Why the hell? Don’t we all know how fragile life is – we don’t even know if there is tomorrow, is it worth being uncomfortable or unsettled all the time to be a “YOGI” or a “KING”? Since am not yet over the shocking demise of Mr Shinzo Abe, probably my thoughts are colored 😐
Ok, just to clarify, Charmer doesn’t mean being frivolous or irresponsible or having a very balanced life – Charmer is someone who is on the right path but not in pursuit of something far bigger (simple life in Gokul), connected to self but also connected to others (praja’s welfare and protection was of prime importance), feel and express emotions (banter with gopis or love for yashodha ma), living small moments (makhan chor) and celebrating larger life ❤
Just as an example and while by no means am suggesting that Karan Johar is a “charmer” or a ‘follower of Krishna’, but atleast on the face of it, he seems to have made the right picks in life – whether it is gaining respect in the industry or a contributor in success of others or unmatchable skill of connecting with everyone (with/ without Koffee with K) or just spreading love and happiness…..he has done it all and rather successfully. You must be thinking I have gone nuts🤣, but if you think of it, he is close to the definition of ‘Charmer’ the way it should be comprehended.
Now if Karan Johar’s mention was not enough to drive the point home, let me share with you quick snippet of Vettel’s farewell speech which left some very very powerful messages (if not heard yet, here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3BgDLfRTjk)
- Chase to perfection takes lot of focus and commitment
- Its natural for goals to change in life and it must change with time
- Perfection and excellence comes with a price… so choose wisely
- Your identity is more imp than work – embrace all aspects of life
My mind is stuck at “Embrace all aspects of life” with grace – and I truly mean ALL – innocence when you can be naive, maturity when life throws lemons at you, success when you get opportunities, love when you meet your match, grief when life is harsh and most importantly, respect for others and for your own self.
Ah……. Am I leaning towards spirituality?…… no no…….. Gita is the ultimate truth of life with very core values and if one can follow it in entirety, its called spiritual enlightenment and lot of people are striving for it (including myself). What does this lead to? You focus on performance, without caring of the outcome, without feeling the high and low of it, without any expectations, you are just doing the “right thing”. But in the process, you end up losing the ability to feel emotions (yours and others) so much so that instead of feeling soulful, you become soul numb. Worth the spiritual excellence?
Probably not…… I want to charm and be charmed…… love and be loved…… feel and be felt!!! Yes, I want to be on the path to spirituality but keeping my soul happy is the “ultimate goal”…….To my mind Krishna is the ultimate charmer and even if 1% of it can be followed, would consider this life a success 😊😊
